We have been crunching the numbers from Thursday's local Council elections for Sefton and West Lancashire.

The boundary changes for the new Southport Constituency drops Ainsdale and adds parts of West Lancs, namely, Hesketh-with-Becconsall, North Meols, Rufford, Tarleton. Ainsdale moves to Sefton Central.

These four names added from West Lancs, taken from Boundary Commission, do not actually match the ward names at West Lancs for Thursday's Elections. From West Lancs they are listed as North Meols & Hesketh Bank, Tarleton Village, Burscough Bridge & Rufford.

Including voting totals from West Lancs for the four main parties is also complicated by there being two seats won in Tarleton - both conservative, and Burscough Bridge & Rufford won by Our West Lancashire (OWL) who wouldn't be represented at a general selection for the new Southport Constituency we assume. Additionally, Reform did not contest local electiond, and indepenent Sean Halsall wasn't involved - both who will included in a general election.

Given that the local Council elections of 2019 and the General Election bore no / little resemblance to each other we see no point in showing local election results for what would be the new Southport constituency boundary.

After reporting results for Southport yesterday a lot of people wanted constituency comparisons. They are pointless and we won't be publishing them.

From all the numbers we calculated there was just 1,174 more voters from the old and new boundaries. Not withstanding more peope are likely to vote in a general election.

Are these boundary minor changes really worthwhile? Do Ainsdale people not want still feel part of Southport? Do those area of West Lancs feel that they are part of Southport.

    Thank you

And after those nice people at the Tory party had gone to so much trouble to tell us how that star Damian would be fine.

It leaves them looking like Wiley Coyote in the Roadrunner cartoons when yet another attempt to blow up the Roadrunner leaves him in tatters.

False prospectus. Voters residing within the new boundaries for Southport parliamentary constituency are able to vote for their representative in the House of Commons. Whether, or how much each identifies with the town is neither here nor there. Of course, it will be up to each prospective parliamentary candidate to persuade voters resident in the added area that s/he will represent them fairly.
