'Sandscape – the cultural and natural heritage of the Sefton coast' is now available at selected outlets.

The hardback title looks at everything on this marvellous coastline from the flora and fauna to aviation history, and is graced by superb images from some of the best photographers in the area.

The initial print run for the Sefton Coast Landscape Partnership has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and “Sandscape” has gone on sale with a recommended retail price of £15.

All profits from the sale of 'Sandscape' will go towards funding publications about the Sefton coast.

'Sandscape' is written by Sefton resident John Dempsey - a former journalist on Merseyside for 23 years.

For the past seven years John has worked on the Sefton coast and has observed, recorded and enjoyed the wildlife here for four decades. He is currently project officer with Sefton Coast Landscape Partnership.

The partnership is embedded within Sefton Council’s coast and countryside team and promotes the cultural and natural heritage of the Sefton coast.

John said: "I'd like to thank everyone who helped me with 'Sandscape' - photographers, historians, naturalists, designers, colleagues and partners on the coast.

"Hopefully it will help spread the message about the wonderful treasures we have here."

'Sandscape' is on sale at The Atkinson, Lord Street, Southport; Broadhursts Booksellers, Market Street, Southport; Prichard’s Books, Liverpool Road, Crosby and the World Museum in Liverpool.

Copies can also be bought from Sefton Council’s coast and countryside office at Ainsdale Discovery Centre, The Promenade, Ainsdale, during normal office hours. Cash payment or cheques made payable to 'Sefton MBC' can be accepted here.
